Lightspeed POS (K-Series & L-Series) Integration

Modified on Wed, 11 Jun at 1:25 PM

Lightspeed POS is one of the leading point-of-sale systems tailored for the hospitality and retail industries. RoomRaccoon offers robust two-way integrations with both Lightspeed K-Series and Lightspeed L-Series, giving hoteliers complete visibility and control over restaurant, bar, and retail sales within their PMS.

This article explains what Lightspeed is, the key differences between the K and L series, how the integration works, and how it benefits your hotel operations and revenue reporting.

What is Lightspeed POS?

Lightspeed is a cloud-based point-of-sale system designed to streamline service operations in restaurants, cafés, and retail environments.

K-Series (previously, iKentoo)

  • Purpose-built for hospitality outlets (restaurants, bars, cafes).

  • Supports charging guest orders to their room directly via the POS.

  • Ideal for hotels without retail shops.

L-Series

  • Supports both hospitality and retail operations.

  • Perfect for hotels with additional retail outlets like gift shops or boutiques.

  • Enables itemized billing from multiple business units.

When connecting Lightspeed to RoomRaccoon, you must confirm whether the property is using K-Series or L-Series to ensure proper functionality.

How does the integration work?

The integration enables a two-way connection between RoomRaccoon and Lightspeed POS:

  1. Guest Verification
RoomRaccoon sends a lookup to Lightspeed, allowing the POS to retrieve a list of current guests. This lets the staff select the correct reservation when charging an order.

  2. Room Charging
Once the order is confirmed, the POS sends the itemized charge back to RoomRaccoon, where it's attached to the guest’s reservation as an add-on.

This process works for both K-Series and L-Series, ensuring a smooth guest experience and accurate billing.

Using Lightspeed with RoomRaccoon, hoteliers can:

  • Charge F&B and retail purchases to guest reservations

  • Automate billing for all POS activity

  • Reduce errors and manual data entry at checkout

  • Track consolidated revenue from all POS-connected outlets

  • Connect multiple POS accounts (e.g., separate bar, restaurant, and shop accounts)

Available revenue reports for POS integrations

RoomRaccoon supports two main reports for POS integrations like Lightspeed:

1. POS Report

To find the POS report, navigate to “Reports” module, click “Revenue” tab and select the “POS” report sheet.

  • Captures all transactions charged to guest rooms

  • Updated in real time when an item is posted to a reservation

  • Useful for front desk and billing staff

2. External Revenue Report

To find the External Revenue report, navigate to “Reports” module, click “Revenue” tab and select the “External Revenue” report sheet.

  • Captures walk-in revenue or non-guest purchases

  • Updated after Lightspeed's daily close (Z-report)

  • Ideal for accounting and revenue audits

Together, these reports offer a complete view of your property’s revenue—from guests and non-guests alike.

Good to know

  • Adding a Lightspeed integration uses one upgrade slot per RoomRaccoon’s pricing policy.

  • If your property has an accounting system connection, notify Lightspeed to avoid duplicate revenue entries.

How to connect multiple Lightspeed L-Series paypoints to one RoomRaccoon account

Hotels with multiple outlets (like a bar, restaurant, or spa) can now connect more than one Lightspeed L Series PayPoint to a single RoomRaccoon account. This allows each outlet to:

  • Charge directly to guest rooms, and

  • Sync all external revenue into the main RoomRaccoon account.

This means that you can track and consolidate revenue across multiple outlets—perfect for properties with several POS stations.

How to request setup

To enable this, simply reach out via Rocco, our in-app AI agent, and request:

"Set up multiple Lightspeed L Series PayPoints to post to our main RoomRaccoon account."

A ticket will be created, and our Technical Support Team will reach out to handle the rest.
