How to connect to HostelWorld

What is HostelWorld?

Hostelworld is a global distribution channel focused on the hostel market. RoomRaccoon connects to HostelWorld via a platform hub. It is not possible to have a direct connection because of this. 


What is this Hub?

It is a hotel software platform operating in 96 countries. They offer software solutions for hoteliers with a large number of channels (OTAs) connected through their channel management services. RoomRaccoon connects into it as a “Hub”, allowing us to connect to channels we may not have a direct connection with. 


How does the connection work?

RoomRaccoon does not offer a direct connection to HostelWorld, we offer the connection via a hub. 


IMPORTANT: Because the connection is through the hub, an additional fee per month is charged. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information on these costs.  


How Payments and Refunds work

  • The HostelWorld portal does not supply credit card data to channel managers. Credit card details can be retrieved via the HostelWorld back office for processing.

  • HostelWorld does not offer guarantee on fluctuating exchange rates which may impact booking payments


Rates, Availability & Restrictions

  • Hostelworld does not support check-in/check-out restrictions.

  • Rates are updated to the hub from RoomRaccoon and applied to HostelWorld from the hub. Additionally, HostelWorld may offer promotional discounts or special offers that could affect the rate display/booking rates and these need to be managed directly in HostelWorld.

  • We only connect one rate to the hub; which means that only the one rate connected from RoomRaccoon to HostelWorld. If you have different rate types in HostelWorld (such as non-refundable rates, corporate rates etc.) you will need to manage these rates directly in HostelWorld.


How to request the Connection

  1. Reach out to HostelWorld’s support team, and ask them to set the hub (Wubook) as the channel manager.

  2. Connect with our support team and provide them with the following information in order for us to start the connection process

    1. Your HostelWorld account ID (If you do not know where to find this, please reach out to HostelWorld’s support team for assistance).

    2. Provide us with a match up of Category Types in RoomRaccoon vs Category Types in HostelWorld with the unique channel ID of that category (Example: RoomRaccoon: 4 Bed Mixed Dorm - HostelWorld: Room 4 (4567)).

    3. Provide us with the Rate Name in RoomRaccoon that you would like to connect to HostelWorld for each category.


Important: Please remember that we can only connect a category once per channel. This means that if you connect Category A from RoomRaccoon to Category A in HostelWorld, you cannot connect Category A in RoomRaccoon again to Category B from HostelWorld.
