Why are outages occurring on Booking.com?

The Booking.com system may occasionally experience interruptions that could impact the processing of reservations and the accuracy of availability information. You may have received emails from Booking.com alerting you about missed reservations. However, RoomRaccoon imports any missed or new reservations or modifications after Booking.com is available to us again. Outages are usually short and infrequent, with minimal impact. However, considering the frequency of recent outages on Booking.com, we would like to keep you informed on how best to handle these instances. 


What impact does a Booking.com outage have on your hotel operations?

During these outages, guests are still able to make reservations via the Booking.com platform which can result in potential overbookings. These reservations are not made immediately available by Booking.com to be automatically imported into RoomRaccoon. In such instances, you will receive an email notification from Booking.com notifying you of incoming reservations.


What to do in the instance of a Booking.com outage.

When you receive an email from Booking.com, we recommend that you create a room block in your calendar for the booked period to ensure that your availability in other booking channels is updated. In this email, please take note of the Booking.com reservation number as you can expect the missed Booking.com reservation to appear in your pop-up to assign reservations after the outage has been resolved by Booking.com. This resolution may vary between a few minutes up to a few hours. 


Once the reservation appears in your pop-up, please cancel the manually made room block and then assign the Booking.com reservation.


Alternatively, if you are using auto-assign, check your calendar regularly for the Booking.com reservation. After you see the Booking.com reservation in your calendar, please cancel the manually-made room block. 


How long do outages occur?

Booking.com resolutions on outages can take anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours.


What can I do to prepare for potential Booking.com outages?

Unfortunately, there is no way of completely avoiding a Booking.com outage. However, you will receive an email from Booking.com for every reservation that has not been imported into your RoomRaccoon calendar during an outage. You can mitigate the risk of over-bookings by creating room blocks in your calendar for reservations made during this time until your missed bookings are successfully imported into your calendar. 


What if I receive over-bookings (double bookings) during a Booking.com outage?

In the case where you receive a double booking during a Booking.com outage, please reach out to the Booking.com team to assist you in relocating the reservation. Solutions are handled on a case-by-case basis by Booking.com as they take full ownership of these outages.
