In some cases, you may want to remove a payment from a reservation. Whether this is possible depends on several factors.
Use this guide to determine whether a payment can be deleted from a reservation.
Step 1: What Type of User Are You?
Are you a Manager user?
Yes → Go to Step 2.
No → Payments cannot be deleted.
Lower access users can never delete payments.
Step 2: Has the payment been sent through if you make use of an Accounting Connection?
Yes, payment has been sent: Payments cannot be deleted, regardless of how they were added. This protects financial reporting and accounting integrity.
No, payment has not been sent: Go to Step 3.
Step 3: What Type of Payment Is It?
Payment processed via a Payment Provider (Adyen, Stripe, Peach, DPO): Payment cannot be deleted.
Kiosk payment: Payment cannot be deleted.
OTA payment (prepayment info from channel): Payment can be deleted (if not financially locked).
Manually added payment: Payment can be deleted (if not financially locked).
Step 4: Is the Payment Financially Locked?
Even if deletion is technically allowed, a payment may still be locked if:
It belongs to a closed reporting period
It has already been pushed to accounting
If locked, deletion is not possible.
What If I Cannot Delete the Payment?
If the payment cannot be deleted, the correct solution is:
Add a negative correcting payment.
Example:
Incorrect payment added: €100
Add correcting payment: –€100
This keeps your accounting accurate while fixing the reservation balance.
