How to Close Rates and Stop Sell

Modified on Wed, 22 Feb 2023 at 01:53 PM

Promotional rates are a great way to maximise your property’s occupancy and revenue, especially during those dry seasons. If you have a promotional rate type, e.g., a winter special that you advertise for a specific period each year,  then you can close this rate type in the summer and Stop-Sell with RoomRaccoon.

However, it is important to know that if you want to close a rate type and Stop-Sell, the price must be 0€. This way, the system understands that the rate is closed and communicates it to all channels, including the booking engine, preventing future reservations from being made using this rate type.

You can close a rate type and Stop-Sell using the pencil icons in the Rates & Availability overview.

How to close rates and Stop-Sell using the big pencil icon?

1.  Click on the Channel Manager Module on the left of the screen and navigate to the Rate & availability tab.

2. Select the Category you want to adjust by clicking on the drop down arrow. If you want to adjust all categories select ‘All room types’.

3. Click on the big pencil icon next to your Category to manage your rates.

4. Enter the dates you want the rate to apply (up to one year at a time). Select the days of the week that you want the change to apply.

6. Select percentage option by clicking on the drop down arrow under the Price change section and insert -100

7. Select the rate types you want to close under the Category section. You will view the summary of the changes you made on the right side of the screen. If you are satisfied, click on synchronise.

How to close rates and Stop-Sell using a small pencil icon?

1.  Click on Channel Manager Module on the left of the screen and navigate to the Rate & availability tab.

2. Next to the category you want to apply the closed rate, click in the small pencil.

3. Enter the dates you want the rate to apply (up to 1 year at a time). Select the days of the week that you want the change to apply.

5. Insert 0 in the rates you want to close. You will view the summary of the changes you made on the right of the screen. If you are satisfied, click on synchronise.

Good to know:

  • Derived rates can only be closed if the main rate is closed.

  • This does not work with Airbnb because this OTA has a policy of a minimum price of 10€/night. Therefore, it will not accept the 0€ price. To create a stop-sell for this channel, you must do it directly on the Airbnb platform.

  • If you wish to open sell again for the closed rates, you must use the small pencil to insert the amount you desire.
