Epson Printer - How To Prepare Your Local Network

Modified on Thu, 08 Dec 2022 at 11:36 AM

RoomRaccoon does not provide any assistance with local network configuration. These below are the instructions provided directly by Epson for configuration and in Step 3 of the list below, there are instructions for testing the connection.

Phase 1 - Prepare your Local Network

Download the following files from here

  1. Istruzioni Certificati SSL.zip which contains two PDFs. Both describe SSL certificates and are mainly written in Italian.

  1. Fiscal_printer.zip to load onto the printer via the cgi-bin/upload.cgi printer service.

  1. Epson_Fiscal_Lab_CA_2038.zip which contains a crt file to load onto your browsers. Just double-click it.

The above factory files (points 2 and 3) provide support for three DNS names:

  • printer1.epson.local

  • printer2.epson.local

  • printer3.epson.local

The above DNS names need to be added to your PC hosts file or your corporate DNS server if you have one.

You can always create your own certificates using your own naming conventions. Please refer to the attached documentation.

Please use the following sequence:

  1. Printer:

  • SET 34 SSL = 1

  • SET 34 WEBAPP MEM TYPE = 0

  • SET 34 WEB APPLICAT.:OFF/ON = 1

2. Reboot Printer

3. Connect via HTTPS. Choose “Proceed” when the browser mentions an SSL certificate (not possible with Internet Explorer).

4. Upload fiscal_printer.zip via upload.cgi service.

5. Verify WebApp path is empty (https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/www/webapp). There should not be a file called fiscal_printer.pem since it is copied internally.

6. Restart printer.

7. Add the IP address of the printer in the hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) or configure your corporate DNS server if you use one.

8. Load Epson_Fiscal_Lab_CA_2038.crt onto your PC (double-click file).

9. Use https://printer1.epson.local Report URL for example and the certificate error should no longer appear.

Phase 2 - Check the settings in RoomRaccoon

  1. Click here to double-check

  • If the IP address is correct.

  • SSL should be active
