What is RaccoonPay Card Storage?
It is a functionality that securely stores the bookers/guests card details in the system, allowing you to charge them in the future in case of a no-show or cancellation.
Is it safe to store card details?
Yes. RoomRaccoon and its partner payment provider store card details securely via the card tokenization functionality, enhancing the safety of online payment transactions.
What is a card tokenization?
Tokenization is the encryption of a card details. It replaces your sensitive card details with a secure, non-sensitive token:
- making your transactions safer from fraud and data breaches, reducing the financial losses due to fraud, and making it a worthwhile investment in your peace of mind.
- reducing the risk of unauthorised access to their financial information
- ensuring smoother transactions, reducing the chance of errors or declines due to outdated or insecure payment details
Where are they stored and where can I access them?
Card details are stored in the booker profile, but you cannot access them. You will only see a stored token, allowing you to see the last 4 digits of the stored card.
How can I charge a stored card?
With the cardholder-not-present payment functionality from within a reservation.
What payment functionalities allow cards to be stored?
RoomRaccoon can store card details when they enter the system via the following:
- Booking engine: when a booker makes a prepayment with a debit or credit card, its card details are stored in the booker profile.
- Booking engine: when a booker provides a credit card as a guarantee for a non-prepaid rate.
- OTA reservations: when OTAs such as Booking.com send (virtual) credit card details together with the reservation information to RoomRaccoon.
- Booker profile: you can manually insert card details to a booker profile and save.
The remaining payment functionalities such as payment request link, online check-in & check-out allow your guests to pay, but do not store the used card.
What type of cards can be stored?
- Debit cards
- Credit cards
- Virtual credit cards
How many cards can be stored per booker profile?
Only 1 card at a time can be stored in a booker profile. You can delete the stored card and add another one manually, if needed.
Why are there card storage fees?
To make the secure card storage possible via tokenization, there are costs involved:
- The cost reflects the advanced technology used to secure card details.
- It includes maintaining a highly secure infrastructure that ensures payment information is protected 24/7.
- This fee also covers compliance with global security standards, such as PCI DSS, which ensures the data meets the highest security benchmarks.
This fee is standard across the industry and supports a critical layer of security for your payments.
When will card storage fees be charged?
RaccoonPay Card Storage fees will be billed in your monthly invoice on the 20th of each month, regarding the previous month storage. For example, on the 20th February's invoice, you will see the fees for the stored card from January.
Your monthly invoice is available for consultation in your Subscription tab, within the Settings module.
