How to Set up City Tax Rules

Different forms of tourist tax apply depending on each country, province or city. This can be calculated upon an amount per person per night or a percentage of the amount the accommodation accumulates.

How to set a city tax amount

1. Click on settings in the bottom left of the screen.

2. Scroll down until you reach the section for city tax rules.

3. In the settings, you can choose between a currency or %. Enter the city tax amount and click save.

4. Click on the room type icon in the top left corner and open the rate to adjust the amount.

5. In addition to the price per night, enter the city tax.

6. In addition to the city tax for adults, you can also enter a different amount for children. If no different rate is set, leave it at 0.

Do you have derived rates?

All you have to do is adjust the tourist tax in the main rate and it will automatically multiply to the number of people at the rate!

Setting City Tax Percentage

1. Click on the orange settings gear in the bottom left corner.

2. Scroll down until you reach the city tax rules section.

3. In the settings you can choose between a currency or percentage. Click on % and save

4. When you choose % you get the option to indicate how much this is related to the amount of the booking. Fill this field in and click save at the top right corner of the screen.

Good to know

• If you have city tax for children, when you fill in the guest details, the system will automatically adjust the total city tax taking into account the dates of birth of the guests.

• Have reservations been made on the dates of the city tax change? You can indicate in your booking conditions and possibly in the booking confirmation that the city tax is applied at the time of your stay and not at the time of booking and therefore may be a different amount if the municipality has changed this.

FAQs

Which city tax is applied if the rules are out of date?

Your default setting remains for the fixed amount that you can find in the price types. If the rule has expired, the city tax will fall on this amount!

Why would I set the city tax by room type?

Some hoteliers have multiple accommodations in different locations, so you can apply your own tourist tax per municipality.
