What is RaccoonID?

RaccoonID is a digital barcode scanner that reads identification documents (e.g. passports, IDs) and automatically fills in guest information in the correct fields. This ensures a fast, contactless, and accurate check-in process – both online and at reception.

Benefits of RaccoonID

  • Minimise errors: Automatic ID scanning ensures guest details are recorded accurately.

Note: RaccoonID requires one upgrade slot. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to activate it on your account.

How to Use RaccoonID

1. Online Check-In

  • During online check-in, guests can choose to use the scanner.

  • A banner appears at the top of the check-in page, giving them the option to scan their ID.

2. Reception Check-In

  1. Open the reservation in your RoomRaccoon calendar.

  2. Scroll to Guest Details and click the dropdown arrow to find the RaccoonID option.

  3. Select it to open your device’s camera and click on the camera icon.

  1. Place the ID/passport in the white frame; it will scan it automatically.

  2. It will open a new window where you can check the guest details, and then save by clicking on final. 

  3. Guest details will automatically populate the check-in fields.

Good to know

  • There is a limit of one scan per guest.

  • Make sure RoomRaccoon has access to your computer’s camera.

  • Use a high-quality camera for the most accurate scanning results.

  • RaccoonID data is not stored in RoomRaccoon – it is only used to fill check-in fields.

  • Always review scanned data for accuracy before confirming check-in.

  • Make sure you are using a secure browser like Google Chrome. 

  • RaccoonID requires one upgrade slot – speak to your Customer Success Manager to add it.
