All About the Booking Engine

Modified on Tue, 10 Dec at 3:32 PM

Your booking engine is a very important tool to attract more direct bookings. It’s important therefore that your booking engine maintains a professional look with an easy user interface for guests to book seamlessly.

Booking engine options can be accessed through clicking on the Booking Engine module from within the left-hand navigation centre in your RoomRaccoon account.

Branding:

The branding can be set on the top right side of the screen. You have the option to have your booking engine accessible in multiple languages (we recommend this to help increase foreign, direct bookings).

Towards the left side of the screen, you are able to select which languages the Booking Engine is visible in.

Please note your own content must be translated. This includes the translations of the rate names, your descriptions, add-ons, etc.

Payments

  • To make the payment process as swift and convenient as possible, we offer our automated payment option, Raccoonpay.

  • With this feature, you are able to arrange payments, charge credit cards directly, make payment requests via iDEAL and have a credit card number immediately verified.  Click here for more on activating RaccoonPay.

Booking conditions

  • You can set parameters on which guest information fields you want to have as mandatory fields. Our system allows you to set limits on same-day booking so that guests don’t book and come through to your property an hour later - this would need to be manually updated for your other channels.

  • Booking conditions can also be set under this section. Guests will then need to tick a box to indicate that they have read them before they can finalise their booking. If you have multiple languages, a translation should be attached.

Increase return guests

One of the many ways we promote direct bookings is through the post-stay document. At the bottom of the booking engine page, you will find an option to create discount codes

These are discount codes that people can use on your booking engine for future stays. You can create this code and send it out in your automated documents.

White label Booking Engine

You can use your own booking engine URL which gives the option to have a Booking Engine with your own URL. It is possible to use a custom domain of the property for the Booking Engine URL and 'Powered by RoomRaccoon' will be removed.

Good to know

  • The logo you upload here will be visible on your Booking Engine as well as your invoices. Take this into account as your logo could disappear on the invoice.

  • With the currency converter, if a source fails to deliver an accurate quote, the next highest provider is queried for this particular currency pair. This enables us to sort out possible inaccuracies and provide the vast majority of all spot exchange rates with a precision of six decimal places.
