What is a favicon?

A favicon, short for "favorite icon," is a small icon associated with a particular website or web page. It appears in several places, including:

  1. Browser Tabs: The favicon is displayed next to the page title in a browser tab, helping users quickly identify and switch between tabs.
  2. Bookmarks: When a user bookmarks a website, the favicon appears next to the bookmark name, making it easier to recognize and access.
  3. Address Bar: Some browsers display the favicon in the address bar, next to the URL.
  4. History:Favicons are shown next to the entries in the browser history, aiding in site recognition.
