Are you spending loads of money on online ads to get people to visit your property’s website? Want to know if all that investment is actually paying off?
With RoomRaccoon, you can easily track the value of every successful booking made through your Booking Engine. This guide will help you set everything up so you can see how much money your Booking Engine is generating — right in your Google Analytics account.
Who is this for?
This applies to:
Everyone using the standard Booking Engine
And also those using the white-label Booking Engine
When someone completes a booking, RoomRaccoon will send the booking ID and the total value to your Google Analytics account as a conversion event.
What You Need: Cross-Domain Tracking
If you’re using the standard Booking Engine (not white-labelled), you’ll need to make sure cross-domain tracking is enabled.
Are you using Google Universal Analytics (UA)?
Check if your tracking ID starts with UA-xxxxxx. If so, follow this guide to set up cross-domain tracking properly.
Using the newer Google Analytics GA4?
You can set it up directly in the Admin section of GA4. Follow this guide for help.
What You Need to Do in RoomRaccoon
There are two main code sections you’ll need to fill in your Booking Engine settings:
Step 1: Go to the Booking Engine module in RoomRaccoon.
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom right of the screen. You'll see two fields:
Tracking Code
GA4 or GTM Code
Step 3: Tracking Code
Paste any tracking scripts here (like from Google Tag Manager).
We highly recommend using Google Tag Manager (GTM) — it lets you easily add other tools like Facebook/Meta Pixel too. Want to learn more? Click here to read about GTM.
Step 4: GA4 or GTM ID
Paste your Google Analytics tracking ID here:
UA-xxxxxx → if using Universal Analytics
G-xxxxxxx → if using GA4
Where to find it:
For GA4: go to Data Streams
For UA: go to Admin > Property Settings
Paste the ID into the Ecommerce code section.
Step 5: Don’t forget to click Save!
Step 6: If you've added the correct tracking code and enabled cross-domain tracking, you’ll start seeing conversions (with booking value) in your Google Analytics reports.
