Credit card data is highly sensitive information that needs to be stored and kept in the most secure way possible. In order to protect the credit card details of your guests, RoomRaccoon promotes integration with Peach payments to tokenise cards.
From the 1st of April 2022, RoomRaccoon stopped storing credit card data due to security improvements in our system. If you would like us to continue storing your guest's credit card information you can activate RaccoonVault - this is RoomRaccoon’s secure framework where all encrypted credit card data is kept, you cannot see sensitive card information and only the last 4 digits of the card are visible.
Tokenising cards is not only beneficial in securing sensitive data but also ensuring that RoomRaccoon is PCI compliant - which is the regulation for handling/accepting credit card payments.
NOTE: Tokenisation is the process of replacing a card's primary account number (PAN)—the 16-digit number on the plastic card—with a unique alternate card number, or “token.” Tokenisation does not verify the card details that are provided. |
Good to know
Activating RaccoonVault costs €50 or R900 a month.
Peach payments have the added benefit of accepting instantEFT payments at reduced PSP costs.
