VCC Shows as €0, or Cannot Be Charged, What to Do?

I face problems charging my OTA Virtual Credit Cards, what to do?

Charging a Virtual Credit Card (VCC) is an option to guarantee your money. RaccoonPay supports this process to import both the OTA reservation and linked credit card details to charge this card at the moment of check-in, or check-out. However, changes in the reservation might cause a problem when charging these cards. In the reservation, RoomRaccoon always tries to show the current balance of the VCC, but updates are sometimes required.

Possible issues with Virtual Credit Cards

The VCC shows as €/£ 0, can I take this payment now?

  1. Check the room price of the reservation.

  1. Make sure the city tax is not part of the room price.

  1. Insert the reservation price in the partial amount and click the charge button.

The VCC shows the room price, and I receive a 'not sufficient funds' error message.

  1. Check if the current balance shows the room price + city tax. If it does, follow step three of the previous case.

  1. If that doesn't work, check if something might have changed in the OTA reservation itself.

  1. If it does, reach out to our support team to update the reservation for you.

The VCC cannot be charged, while the current balance should be correct.

  • In the remarks of the reservation, the charge date of the VCC can be found.

  • The reservation is cancelled, but not updated in RoomRaccoon itself. Reach out to our support team to update the reservation for you.

  • The reservation was already paid manually, but not updated in RoomRaccoon.

Is avoiding Virtual Credit Cards also an option?

Avoiding VCC's is an option within RaccoonPay. By focusing more on direct bookings, you don't rely on OTA updates and imported cards. RaccoonPay ensures that prepayments are directly paid out to you in one of your payouts, increasing your cash flow after all.

Also, credit cards as a guarantee might be an option. By avoiding VCC's in general, you don't have to wait until the moment of check-in or check-out to receive your payments.
